Signing in and your account
How to sign in, accept an invitation, change your password, and what to do if you are locked out.
This guide covers everything about getting into Trelice: accepting your invitation, signing in, resetting a forgotten password, and what to do when the system signs you out.
Accepting your invitation (first time only)#
You do not create your own Trelice account. An administrator at your organization creates it and Trelice emails you an invitation link.
- Open the invitation email and click the link.
- Your browser opens a Trelice page that says Checking your invitation…, then greets you by name — for example Welcome, Sarah.
- In the New password box, type a password of your choice. It must be 8 to 64 characters and contain an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a digit, and a special character (such as ! or #).
- Type the same password again in the Confirm password box.
- Click the blue Create password & sign in button. While it works, the button reads Activating....
- What you'll see: Trelice signs you in and takes you straight to your dashboard.
Note: If your organization uses Google or Microsoft sign-in, the invitation page also shows those buttons under the words or continue with single sign-on. You may use them instead of creating a password — but only with the same email address the invitation was sent to.
Troubleshooting: If the page says Invitation expired, the link is too old — ask your administrator to send a new one. If it says Already activated, your account is ready; click Go to sign in. If it says Invalid invitation, the link was cut short — copy the whole link from the email, or ask for a fresh one.
Signing in#
- Go to the Trelice sign-in page. You will see the Trelice logo and a white card titled Sign in to your account.
- In the Email address box, type your work email.
- In the Password box, type your password. To check your typing, click the small eye symbol at the right edge of the box — it shows the password; click again to hide it.
- Click the blue Sign in button. While it works, the button reads Signing in....
- What you'll see: your dashboard, with Welcome back at the top.
If the email or password is wrong, a red message appears: Invalid email or password. Check for typing mistakes and try again — the eye symbol helps.
Signing in with Google or Microsoft#
If your organization has set this up, the sign-in card shows extra buttons below the words or continue with — a Google button and/or a Sign in with Microsoft button. Click one and choose your work account in the window that opens. No Trelice password is needed. If these buttons are absent, your organization has not enabled them — use your email and password.
Note: Google and Microsoft sign-in only work for accounts that already exist in Trelice, under the same email address. Some accounts are set up for single sign-on only and have no password at all.
If your account gets locked#
After 5 wrong password attempts in a row, Trelice locks the account for 30 minutes. You will see a red message beginning Account is locked, followed by the time when you may try again.
You have two choices:
- Wait 30 minutes, then sign in with the correct password. If you no longer remember it, use Forgot password? (below) — a successful reset also requires the lock to have passed, so waiting first is simplest.
- Or ask your administrator to unlock the account right away. Administrators can do this from the Users page — see Managing users and invitations.
Forgotten your password?#
- On the sign-in page, click the small Forgot password? link just below the password box.
- What you'll see: a card titled Forgot your password?.
- Type your work email in the Email address box.
- Click Send reset link. While it works, the button reads Sending....
- What you'll see: a green tick and the heading Check your email. Open the email Trelice sent you and click the link inside.
- On the page titled Choose a new password, type your new password in New password, repeat it in Confirm password, and click Reset password.
- What you'll see: Password updated. Click Go to sign in and sign in with the new password.
Troubleshooting: If the reset page says Link expired, click Request a new link — reset links only work for a limited time. If it says Link already used, the password was already changed with this link; sign in, or request another link if you still cannot get in. The confirmation screen appears even if the email address is not in the system, so if no email arrives within a few minutes, check your spam folder and confirm you typed your work address.
When Trelice says your password has expired#
For security, passwords expire from time to time. When yours does, signing in leads to a page titled Password Expired instead of the dashboard.
- Type your old password in the Current Password box.
- Type your new password in the New Password box — same rules as always: at least 8 characters, with uppercase, lowercase, a digit, and a special character.
- Repeat it in the Confirm New Password box.
- Click Change Password.
- What you'll see: your dashboard. You are signed in with the new password from now on.
How long you stay signed in#
Trelice signs you out after about one hour without any activity. This is a regulatory safeguard, not a fault. As long as you are actively working — typing, clicking, scrolling — your session quietly extends itself and you will not be interrupted, even over a long day.
If you step away, a warning appears one minute before the sign-out: a small window titled Session Timeout, with a countdown — Your session will expire in … seconds due to inactivity. It offers two buttons:
- Stay Logged In — click this to keep working. The window closes and your hour starts fresh.
- Log Out — click this to sign out now.
If you do nothing, the countdown reaches zero and Trelice signs you out. The next time you open the sign-in page you may see the notice Your session expired. Please sign in again to continue. Sign in as usual — Trelice returns you to the page you were on.
Signing out#
To sign out yourself, click the door-shaped Sign out symbol at the far right of the bar at the top of the screen. See Finding your way around for where everything sits.
Note: Always sign out when using a shared computer. Closing the browser tab is not the same as signing out.
